Pepper
Shih Tzu, ,Hi there! I’m Pepper, a 6-year-old Shih Tzu/Havanese blend girl, weighing in at a petite 12 lbs. I’m a total couch potato and would love nothing more than to spend my days hanging out with you.
General Behavior: Pepper’s foster family describes her as affectionate and expressive—She has strong opinions and will let you know them! While she experiences some anxiety, she will adapt quickly to new environments with a bit of patience and love.
Likes & Dislikes: Pepper adores snuggling, giving kisses, and being the center of attention! She is food-motivated, though can also be a bit of a picky eater. Toys? Not her thing. She would rather focus on being with her humans.
Training: Pepper is house trained in her foster home and will need to continue to be let out on a regular and consistent schedule. She walks beautifully on a leash, has good basic manners, and even tolerates car rides like a champ.
Medical: Pepper is a healthy gal but does require prescription food for her urinary health. Other than that, she just needs her heartworm and flea/tick preventative, like any other dog.
Other Animals: Pepper gets along with other small laid-back dogs but she is afraid of large dogs, so small dogs only for this little girl. In fact, her preference is to be the only dog in the home – she doesn’t want to share the spotlight. She has not been around cats, but her foster feels she would be ok with them.
Children: Because of her small size and anxiety, Pepper would need to be in a home with children/teens 13 and older.
Home: Pepper would thrive in a home where her human is home a lot, or where she can tag along on adventures. She has been left alone for several hours in her foster home without any issues and has free rein of the house. At night, she is happy to curl up in the “people bed” or a bed of her own. She would be comfortable in a single-family home, apartment, or condo.
Grooming: Pretty Pepper will need regular professional grooming to her looking her best, so her adopter should consider this ongoing cost.
Overall: If you are searching for a loving companion who will cherish you endlessly, Pepper could just be the perfect match! With love, patience, and a lifetime commitment, you could be the perfect pair - like Salt & Pepper.
Are you the one for Pepper? Then visit our website www.PoodleandPoochRescue.org where you will find the application to adopt. You will be put in contact with the foster family for more information if it’s a potential match. Pepper is up to date on vaccines, heartworm negative, microchipped, and spayed. Her adoption donation is $325.

Poodle (Miniature), Maltese,Hi, my name is Sugar. I’m a nine-month-old female Poodle blend, all 11 pounds of me! I am active and athletic and looking for a loving family that enjoys snuggles and games of fetch.
General Behavior: Sugar is a happy, affectionate young pup who will greet you at the door with enthusiasm and one of her toys. She is smart and confident, and always ready for a cuddle.
Likes & Dislikes: Likes & Dislikes: Sugar loves to run, jump, chase lizards, and play fetch. She also enjoys zoomies before bed and playing with her toys. She tolerates car rides but needs to be well-secured.
Training: Sugar is house-trained in her foster home and will need regular outdoor breaks in her forever home. An active family that will continue her training would be best for Sugar. She’s a smart cookie and benefits from mental and physical stimulation. She has already learned basic manners but needs additional work on leash training.
Medical: This little girl just needs her heartworm and flea/tick preventive medicines like any pup.
Other Animals: Sugar does well with small dogs her own size and could be in a home with or without other small dogs. She does not have experience with larger dogs. Sugar does have a strong prey drive so a home without cats would be necessary.
Children: Given her size, Sugar will do best with children over the age of 8 who are dog-savvy, monitored, and gentle with her.
Home: Sugar can be left alone for several hours but has a strong bark, so a single-family home is required. Given her high energy level, a fenced-in yard to run in would be great. She sleeps well in her own dog bed but would also love to sleep in her human's bed.
Grooming: This sweetheart will need regular brushing to look and feel her best, as well as professional grooming about every six weeks. The cost of this should be considered by her potential adopter.
Overall: If you are looking for a sweet and playful companion who will reward you forever with her infectious love of life, Sugar may be the one for you!
Are you the one for Sugar? Please visit our website www.PoodleandPoochRescue.org where you will find the application to adopt. You’ll be put in contact with the foster family for more information if it’s a potential match. She is up to date on vaccines, heartworm negative, microchipped, and spayed. Her adoption donation is $575.
show lessSunshine
Labrador Retriever, ,Meet Sunshine! This sweet, silly Labrador blend is 4 years old and weighs 45 lbs. This playful pup will brighten your day with kisses, belly rubs, and love forever.
General Behavior: Sunshine is a sweet, loving, playful, and energetic pooch. She gives endless kisses and adores belly rubs.
Likes & Dislikes: Sunshine loves playing, romping around in the yard, and snuggling with her humans.
Training: Silly Sunshine has good basic manners and is housetrained. She enjoys napping in her designated cozy area and rides well in the car. She is still working on her leash-walking skills and sharing her toys with other pups.
Medical: This big-hearted gal needs the pressure points on her paws cleaned from time to time, and she can't bend her "wrists" on one leg after an surgery to correct an old injury. But other than that, she just needs her monthly flea and heartworm preventatives, like any dog.
Other Animals: Sunshine is good with other dogs of all sizes (although she might be a bit too playful for some small dogs). She can be a bit shy at first, but quickly warms up to other furry friends. She even gets along with cats.
Children: Sunshine has not been observed around children yet, but she will probably need a home without small children as she is a very active gal who could knock them over. Older kids (10+) are okay.
Home: A single-family home with a securely fenced yard and an active family would be perfect for Miss Sunshine! As long as she gets the exercise and attention she needs, she is sure to thrive!
Grooming: Sunshine does not require much grooming apart from the occasional bath and nail trim when needed.
Overall: Sunshine will be a wonderful companion for someone who is active and ready for lots of adventures and cuddles.
Could you use some Sunshine on a cloudy day? Could Sunshine be your girl? Then visit our website www.PoodleandPoochRescue.org, where you will find the application to adopt. You’ll be put in contact with her foster family for more information if it’s a potential match. She is up to date on vaccines, microchipped, spayed, and heartworm negative. Her adoption donation is $275.

Permanent Residents
Some of our dogs will stay in our care forever. Some have been through so much change and trauma in their lives that putting them through more change isn’t in their best interest, others may have medical needs or need hospice care – these dogs will remain in PPR foster care for the rest of their lives as Permanent Residents.
Apply To foster
When you become a foster parent, you are playing a significant role in our rescue program. When you invite a dog into your home, you provide the love, patience, and guidance to a little dog in need, and Poodle and Pooch Rescue provides the rest! We are responsible for all vetting, grooming, and medical needs the dog may have, all you have to do is treat the dog as if it’s your own. A typical fostering lasts 2 to 3 weeks, and you are never stuck with a dog. You choose the dogs you want to foster, and you are free to foster at your own convenience. If for whatever reason the dog you choose doesn’t fit into your lifestyle, we will simply place the dog into a new foster family. You get to enjoy the companionship of a dog without the lifelong commitment.
